Pet of the Week - Chloe
Meet Chloe. Chloe first came to PAWS Humane from Columbus Animal Care and Control as a stray. She was shy, petrified, and wouldn't acknowledge anyone because of her fear. She started doing so poorly that her fur was falling out in clumps. She wouldn't eat or walk and her health began to deteriorate.
Chloe was immediately put into foster care to try and help her rehabilitate. Sadly Chloe went through a few different foster homes and even a foster to adopt situation and hardly made any progress in each home. We tried EVERYTHING. The first foster home was a bit too noisy, so we tried a quiet home. That didn't work, so then we tried a foster to adopt situation with a quiet home with only one person living there. That didn't work either. Chloe could never find the confidence she needed, so she came back to the shelter.
Once she arrived here, we decided to give her a try in Ghost rehabilitation pen with him. We thought maybe she was previously an outside dog and that's why she was SO shut down inside. We were very happy to see that once we put Chloe outside, she opened up a bit. She would wag her tail and even howl a little when she was excited.
Chloe's been hanging out with Ghost for a few weeks now, and is doing pretty good. She has freedom from a leash, which she REALLY enjoys. She also has a safe hiding place in a dog house, so if she does get frightened, she has somewhere to retreat to.
This is something we rarely ever do, but since we are seeing positive signs with Chloe outside, we are looking for a home for Chloe where she can spend the majority of her time outside. She needs a fenced in backyard along with dog a house. It will take her a while to warm up to her new family, but she will come around. We can give you a few hints too...she likes cheese and hot dogs :-).
Chloe needs you now more than ever to help find her a home. We want nothing more than to see this sweet girl happy and healthy in a forever home. Please share this post for Chloe. If you are interested in adopting her, please stop by and meet her.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, too many animals have been lost and abandoned in Florida. With the number growing each day, PAWS Humane came to the aid of its neighboring state by taking in nearly 80 homeless animals evacuated from shelters. Now that these animals are safe and sound, the community’s help is needed to find each pet a loving, forever home. Happening through October 31st, adult dogs are just $25, AND this great deal is happening at both locations – PAWS Humane and PAWS North.  PAWS Humane North is located on Veterans Parkway, next to Stars & Strikes.
PAWS Humane's main location is located at 4900 Milgen Road about 1/4 mile East of Cooper Creek Park. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 12-5 p.m. Our mission is to enrich the lives of both animals and people as a solution-based community resource for animal welfare by providing high-volume and high quality spay/neuter, rescue and adoption services, volunteer opportunities, outreach, and education. PAWS Humane receives no federal, state or city funding, and relies upon private support and contributions from concerned citizens of our community. To find out more information on how you can serve the homeless animals in our community, please visit PAWS Humane online.
PAWS Humane is primarily known for its Adoption Center that finds loving homes for the homeless animals of the Chattahoochee Valley. However, since 2009, it also has been operating a high volume, affordable Veterinary Clinic. Over the years, the services have grown, starting out with solely spay and neuter surgery. Now, the Veterinary Clinic offers services such as vaccines, microchips, heartworm testing and preventative, flea and tick preventative, spay/neuter surgery and more.
In an effort to service more pet owners, PAWS Humane has extended the wellness hours in the Veterinary Clinic. Wellness services are any appointment that includes vaccines, veterinary testing, microchips and trims. Wellness appointments are accepted Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. by appointment only.
