Pet of the Week - Leia
**The goal is to find Leia a home by July 17th so she doesn't have to come back to the shelter.
Leia is a five-year-old Terrier mix. She originally came to PAWS Humane from Animal Control and found a home in 2014, but has sadly returned because of family instability. Leia enjoys the company of other dogs, but is still shy with her human companions especially around children. She loves belly rubs and to be cuddled. She did have free roam in her previous home without incident.
Leia does know commands such as sit, down, shake, fetch, stay and she comes when called. The longer she spends with someone, the more she seems to come out of her shell. Her previous owners described her as affectionate, friendly, hyper, loves to play, shy, a couch potato and vocal. She is fearful of thunder and lightening.
Some of Leia's favorite pastimes are leash walks, roaming in the yard, playing fetch and socializing with her dog friends. She loves balls, bones, stuffed toys and squeaky toys.
If you are looking for a great dog and are committed to spending extra time socializing with her, Leia would be a fantastic dog for you!
HERE'S THE URGENCY: Because of Leia's shyness, she has been placed in a foster home. We feel strongly that Leia does not need to be in the stress of a shelter. Because of this, we will adopt Leia from foster care. Her foster mom is willing to meet potential adopters at a park. However, her foster mom is leaving on July 17th, and we absolutely DO NOT want to bring Leia to the shelter or put her in another foster home if possible. Please help us find this sweet girl a home!
