Pet of the Week - Mitten
Meet Mitten. Mitten is an almost two-year-old male cat who was owner surrendered to PAWS Humane on January 27th, 2017. When he first arrived, he was so scared and timid. Day after day, volunteers would just sit in Mitten's room to socialize him. The hard work has paid off, and Mitten is now more social than he's ever been at the shelter. Now, when you first enter his "Cat Aquarium" room, he will most likely hide. But, if you give him just a few minutes, he will slowly warm up and come out to greet you.
Once Mitten is comfortable around you, his true personality starts to show. He loves to stretch his feet out and scratch toys. For this reason, he would love to have some cat furniture to scratch and climb on. Apparently, some of his favorite toys in his old home were hair rollers and bows. I think it's pretty safe to say Mitten deserves a box of toys in his new home so he never runs out. Also, like many cats, Mitten is pretty afraid of dogs and doesn't react well around them. He will either need a home without dogs, or a home where the two are separated. Mitten has been waiting at the shelter for quite some time to find his new, permanent home. For a shy kitty like this one, almost three months is far too long. He longs for the day when he can break out of the shelter and be a part of a real family. Underneath the fear and anxiety, Mitten is a very sweet playful kitty. His adoption fee is just $25, and he is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines.
